Gargnano is the sailing town of the Brescia shore and has stayed small. Around it are buildings like Villa Bettoni at Bogliaco and the lemon houses sheltered by the hills: there are few properties and most of them are high end.
Tignale, Tremosine, and Limone sul Garda
Tignale and Tremosine sit on the terraces above the lake, at 400 to 600 metres, joined to the shore by the Forra road. They are mountain villages with the lake below them, built of stone. Limone, down at the water, has the terraced lemon houses.

How do you get around the upper lake?
Along the western Gardesana, the road that hugs the lake from Salò to Riva, and by boat: from Maderno the car ferry crosses to Torri del Benaco, on the Verona shore. Brescia is about an hour away, Verona and the airports a little more; for Tignale and Tremosine you need a car.
